Job Description

Are you passionate about music and the arts? Do you have a knack for organizing and coordinating events and programs? The City of Portland-Oregon is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our Recreation Employment team at Music and Arts Centers. As a part of our team, you will have the opportunity to utilize your skills and creativity to help enrich the community through various music and arts programs.   1. Plan and coordinate music and arts programs and events for the community, ensuring they align with the city's goals and objectives.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with local musicians, artists, and community organizations to collaborate on program ideas and partnerships.
  3. Create and manage program budgets, including securing sponsorships and grants.
  4. Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers to assist with program implementation.
  5. Market and promote programs to increase community awareness and participation.
  6. Ensure programs are inclusive and accessible to all members of the community, regardless of background or ability.
  7. Monitor and evaluate program success and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  8. Maintain accurate records and reports of program activities, attendance, and budget expenditures.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to program participants and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in music and arts programming to continually improve and enhance offerings.
  11. Collaborate with other city departments and community partners to coordinate and promote city-wide events and initiatives.
  12. Uphold the city's policies and procedures and ensure the safety and well-being of all program participants.
  13. Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
  14. Attend regular meetings and training sessions to stay informed on departmental updates and changes.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the Recreation Employment Supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree In Music, Fine Arts, Recreation Management, Or A Related Field.

  • Prior Experience Working In A Music Or Arts Center, Either In A Professional Or Volunteer Capacity.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Various Music And Arts Programs And Activities, Including But Not Limited To Music Lessons, Art Classes, And Performances.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With A Diverse Community And Build Positive Relationships With Staff, Volunteers, And Participants.

  • Ability To Plan And Organize Events And Programs, Including Scheduling, Budgeting, And Marketing, To Ensure Successful And Engaging Experiences For Participants.
