
Heavy Truck Driver

- Safely operate heavy trucks to transport materials and equipment to designated locations within the city.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while operating the truck.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and report any issues or concerns.
- Load and unload materials and equipment onto the truck using proper safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of vehicle maintenance, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials and equipment.
- Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Monitor and report any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of yourself, team members, and the general public.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck, both internally and externally.
- Represent the City of San Diego in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings as required.
- Continuously monitor and report any changes in road conditions or traffic to ensure safe and efficient travel.
- Assist with any other duties or tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (Cdl) With Necessary Endorsements For Operating A Heavy Truck.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Driving Heavy Trucks, Preferably In A Municipal Or Public Works Setting.
Clean Driving Record With No Major Violations Or Accidents In The Past 5 Years.
Knowledge Of Safety Regulations And Procedures For Operating Heavy Trucks, Including Loading And Unloading Cargo.
Ability To Perform Routine Maintenance And Inspections On Heavy Trucks, Including Checking Oil Levels, Tire Pressure, And Other Mechanical Components.
