  1. Develop and implement strategic communication plans to effectively disseminate information to the public and promote the City's initiatives and programs.
  2. Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, coordinating and facilitating interviews, press conferences, and other media opportunities.
  3. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local and national media outlets to ensure accurate and timely coverage of City news and events.
  4. Write and edit press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials to effectively convey key messages and information to the public.
  5. Oversee the production and distribution of multimedia content, including videos, social media posts, and website updates, to engage and inform the community.
  6. Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment to identify potential issues and develop proactive communication strategies to address them.
  7. Collaborate with departmental staff to ensure accurate and consistent messaging across all City departments and initiatives.
  8. Serve as a spokesperson for the City, delivering clear and compelling messages to the media and the public.
  9. Provide guidance and training to City staff on effective communication practices and media relations.
  10. Stay informed on current events and issues affecting the City and proactively identify opportunities to promote and enhance the City's image and reputation.
  11. Monitor and maintain the City's brand and visual identity, ensuring all communications materials adhere to established guidelines.
  12. Lead crisis communication efforts, including developing crisis communication plans and responding to media inquiries during emergencies or critical incidents.
  13. Manage and oversee a team of public information officers, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.
  14. Stay up-to-date on emerging communication trends and technologies and make recommendations for their integration into the City's communication strategies.
  15. Uphold the City's commitment to transparency by ensuring all public information is accurate, accessible, and timely.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In A Public Information Or Media Relations Role, Preferably In A Government Or Municipal Setting.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Media Relations Practices, Crisis Communications, And Public Information Strategies.

  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Information To Diverse Audiences.

  • Demonstrated Experience In Managing And Coordinating Multiple Projects And Priorities, Including The Ability To Work Under Tight Deadlines And In High-Pressure Situations.
