- Conduct thorough inspections of construction projects within the city to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Review building plans and specifications to identify potential code violations and ensure they are addressed before construction begins.
- Document and report any violations or discrepancies found during inspections.
- Communicate and collaborate with contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to resolve any issues and ensure compliance with building codes.
- Provide guidance and technical expertise to contractors and homeowners regarding building codes and regulations.
- Stay up-to-date with any changes or updates to building codes and regulations and ensure they are implemented in all construction projects.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure that any violations have been corrected.
- Investigate and respond to complaints or concerns from the public regarding building code violations.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all inspections and violations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of building codes and regulations.
- Attend training and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry standards and best practices.
- Represent the City of San Jose in a professional and courteous manner.
- Uphold the city's commitment to safety and sustainability in all building projects.
- Collaborate with other city departments and agencies as needed to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Building Inspection Or Related Field.
Possession Of A Valid California Building Inspector Certification.
Knowledge Of State And Local Building Codes, Regulations, And Standards.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Contractors, Developers, And Members Of The Public.
Ability To Interpret Plans And Specifications, Identify Potential Code Violations, And Make Sound Decisions Based On Established Building Codes And Standards.
