This includes troubleshooting and repairing power outages, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.To excel in this role, you must possess a strong understanding of electrical systems and have a proven track record of working with high voltage equipment. You should also have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work well under pressure.   1. Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and systems for the municipal electric utility.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair power outages in a timely and efficient manner.
  3. Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure reliability and safety.
  4. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards while performing duties.
  5. Keep accurate records of all work performed, including maintenance and repairs.
  6. Work closely with other team members to coordinate and complete projects.
  7. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of necessary supplies and equipment.
  8. Continuously improve and update knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and safety procedures.
  9. Respond to emergency situations and work flexible hours as needed.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  11. Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members regarding work progress and any issues that may arise.
  12. Train and mentor junior electricians as needed.
  13. Keep up-to-date with all regulations and codes related to electrical work.
  14. Follow established protocols for reporting any safety hazards or potential issues.
  15. Represent the City of Santa Clara in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For This Position. This Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And Ability To Learn And Follow Instructions.

  • Completion Of An Accredited Electrician Apprenticeship Program: Candidates Must Have Completed An Accredited Electrician Apprenticeship Program, Providing A Thorough Understanding Of The Electrical Trade And Safety Protocols.

  • Valid Electrician License: A Valid Electrician License Issued By The State Of California Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Necessary Requirements And Has The Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Job.

  • Experience In Electrical Utility Work: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Electrical Utility Work, Preferably With A Municipal Or Public Agency. This Demonstrates A Familiarity With The Specific Requirements And Regulations For This Type Of Work.
