The City of Santa Rosa is seeking an experienced Emergency Preparedness Specialist to join our team. As an Emergency Preparedness Specialist, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing emergency response plans, coordinating with local agencies, and educating the community on disaster preparedness. We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable individual who is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens.   1. Develop and implement emergency response plans for the City of Santa Rosa.
  2. Coordinate with local agencies, including police, fire, and public health departments, to ensure effective emergency response and preparedness.
  3. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards in the community.
  4. Educate and train members of the community on disaster preparedness and response protocols.
  5. Serve as a liaison between the City and other emergency management organizations.
  6. Analyze and evaluate emergency response plans and make recommendations for improvements.
  7. Develop and maintain communication systems for emergency response and notifications.
  8. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local emergency management regulations and guidelines.
  9. Keep up-to-date with the latest emergency management techniques and best practices.
  10. Coordinate and conduct drills and exercises to test emergency response plans.
  11. Manage and maintain emergency supplies and equipment.
  12. Collaborate with other city departments to integrate emergency preparedness into their operations.
  13. Respond to and help manage emergency situations as needed.
  14. Provide timely and accurate reports to city officials and stakeholders on emergency preparedness activities.
  15. Monitor and track emergency preparedness budgets and expenditures.
  16. Foster relationships with community organizations and leaders to enhance emergency preparedness efforts.
  17. Act as a spokesperson for the city during emergency situations.
  18. Provide support and guidance to other city staff during emergency situations.
  19. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies.
  20. Stay informed on emerging threats and trends in emergency management and make recommendations for updates to emergency response plans.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Emergency Management, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Emergency Preparedness Or Disaster Response, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Emergency Management Laws, Regulations, And Best Practices.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Diverse Groups And Stakeholders.

  • Certification In Emergency Management, Such As Certified Emergency Manager (Cem) Or Certified Business Continuity Professional (Cbcp), Is Preferred.
