  1. Respond promptly and professionally to all incoming emergency calls, providing necessary support and assistance to callers.
  2. Remain calm and composed in high-stress situations, using effective communication skills to gather necessary information and dispatch appropriate emergency services.
  3. Utilize computer-aided dispatch systems and other technology to accurately record and track emergency calls and dispatch units.
  4. Monitor and coordinate emergency response efforts, including communicating with police, fire, and medical personnel to ensure timely and effective assistance.
  5. Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency situations, such as CPR and first aid, to help stabilize the situation until emergency services arrive.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all emergency calls, including time, location, and nature of the call, for documentation and reporting purposes.
  7. Follow established protocols and procedures to handle a variety of emergency situations, such as crimes in progress, medical emergencies, and natural disasters.
  8. Stay informed on current policies, procedures, and equipment used in emergency communications and attend training sessions to maintain and improve skills.
  9. Remain available and ready to respond to any emergency situation, including working rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  10. Uphold the highest level of professionalism and integrity when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  11. Foster positive relationships with coworkers and other emergency response personnel to ensure effective teamwork and coordination during emergency situations.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve emergency communication processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
  13. Provide excellent customer service to callers in distress, demonstrating empathy and compassion while maintaining a sense of urgency.
  14. Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the safety and security of the community.
  15. Serve as a positive representative of the City of Seattle and the Emergency Communications department, promoting the department's mission and values.
