- Provide excellent customer service to library patrons by assisting with research, reference and circulation needs.
- Promote literacy, lifelong learning, and cultural enrichment by developing and implementing programs and events for all ages.
- Manage and maintain library collections, including selecting, purchasing, cataloging, and weeding materials to ensure relevancy and accessibility.
- Utilize knowledge of library resources and technology to assist patrons with finding and accessing information.
- Collaborate with other library staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that support the mission and goals of the library.
- Actively engage with the community by attending outreach events and building partnerships with local organizations.
- Provide guidance and support to library volunteers and interns.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in library science and technology, and apply them to improve services and operations.
- Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of library services through data analysis and feedback from patrons.
- Maintain a clean and organized library space, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all patrons.
- Assist with budgeting and financial management of library resources.
- Continuously strive to enhance the accessibility and inclusivity of library services for diverse populations.
- Represent the library and promote its services and resources through various marketing and communication channels.
- Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in library science and customer service.
- Uphold the values and standards of the City of Seattle while carrying out job duties.
Master’s Degree In Library Science Or Information Science From An Accredited Institution.
Experience Working In A Library Setting, Preferably In A Public Library.
Strong Knowledge Of Library Cataloging And Classification Systems.
Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills.
Familiarity With Current Technology And Digital Resources Used In Libraries.
