  1. Monitor and dispatch power system operations to ensure the reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to the residents of Seattle.
  2. Collaborate with power system operators, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve power outages, equipment failures, and other operational issues.
  3. Analyze complex data and make critical decisions regarding power system operations, including load balancing, voltage control, and emergency response.
  4. Utilize advanced technology and software systems to monitor and control power system operations, including SCADA, energy management systems, and outage management systems.
  5. Communicate effectively with power system operators, emergency responders, and other city departments to coordinate and prioritize power restoration efforts during outages and other emergency situations.
  6. Stay up-to-date on industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to power dispatching, and implement changes as needed to ensure compliance and improve system performance.
  7. Train and mentor new power dispatchers and provide guidance and support to other team members as needed.
  8. Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergency situations as necessary.
  9. Maintain accurate records and documentation of power system operations, including outage reports, system disturbances, and equipment maintenance.
  10. Continuously evaluate and improve power dispatching processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  11. Act as a liaison between the City of Seattle and other utilities, agencies, and organizations regarding power system operations and emergencies.
  12. Represent the City of Seattle and the power dispatching team at meetings, conferences, and other events as needed.
  13. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment by promoting teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to public service.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Power Dispatching, Preferably In A Utility Or Municipal Setting.

  • A Thorough Understanding Of Electrical Distribution Systems, Including Transmission And Distribution Infrastructure.

  • Knowledge Of Power System Operations, Including Load Forecasting, Outage Management, And Emergency Response Protocols.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Make Quick And Accurate Decisions In High-Pressure Situations.

  • Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, To Effectively Coordinate With Other Utility Personnel, Emergency Services, And Other Stakeholders.
