Welcome to the City of Seattle! We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as the Division Director for our Race and Social Justice Initiative. This is a unique and important role that will lead the city's efforts in advancing racial and social equity within our community.   1. Develop and implement strategies and initiatives that align with the city's Race and Social Justice Initiative goals and objectives.
  2. Oversee and manage all operations and activities of the Race and Social Justice Division.
  3. Collaborate with city departments and community organizations to identify and address systemic disparities and promote racial and social equity.
  4. Conduct research and analysis to identify areas of improvement and develop recommendations for policy and program changes.
  5. Provide guidance and support to city departments in implementing equity and social justice principles in their operations and decision-making processes.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the impact of city policies and programs on marginalized communities and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
  7. Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for the Race and Social Justice Initiative, representing the city's commitment to promoting justice and equality.
  8. Build and maintain relationships with community members and organizations to ensure their voices are heard and incorporated into city initiatives.
  9. Develop and manage the division's budget, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  10. Lead and mentor a team of professionals, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  11. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in the field of racial and social justice, and incorporate them into division strategies and initiatives.
  12. Organize and facilitate trainings and workshops for city employees and community members on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  13. Collaborate with other city departments to ensure that all policies and practices are aligned with the Race and Social Justice Initiative.
  14. Report regularly to city leadership and stakeholders on the progress and impact of the division's work.
  15. Uphold and promote the city's values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the division's work.

  • Strong Leadership And Management Skills: The Division Director Will Be Responsible For Overseeing A Team Of Professionals And Implementing The Race And Social Justice Initiative Across Various Departments. Therefore, The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Leadership And Management Skills.

  • Experience In Developing And Implementing Racial Equity Strategies: The Race And Social Justice Initiative Division Director Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Developing And Implementing Racial Equity Strategies In A Government Or Organizational Setting.

  • Communication And Collaboration Skills: This Role Requires The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Diverse Stakeholders And Build Strong Partnerships With Community Organizations And Government Agencies. The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills.

  • Knowledge Of Government Operations And Policies: The Division Director Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Government Operations And Policies, Particularly In The Context Of Race And Social Justice. This Includes Knowledge Of Budgeting, Policy Development, And Decision-Making Processes.
