Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Urban Design Manager to join our team and help shape the future of our city.   1. Develop and implement urban design strategies and initiatives that align with the City of Seattle's overall vision and goals.
  2. Lead and manage a team of urban designers and collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  3. Conduct research and analysis on urban design trends, best practices, and regulations to inform decision making.
  4. Oversee the design process for various projects, from conceptualization to final implementation.
  5. Communicate and present design proposals and progress updates to city officials, community groups, and the public.
  6. Ensure that projects comply with relevant codes, regulations, and guidelines.
  7. Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
  8. Foster positive relationships with community members and stakeholders to gather feedback and address concerns.
  9. Continuously evaluate and improve the city's urban design processes and standards.
  10. Stay updated on industry advancements and incorporate innovative ideas into design projects.
  11. Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff members to develop their skills and knowledge.
  12. Represent the City of Seattle at conferences, workshops, and other events related to urban design.
  13. Collaborate with other city departments and agencies on interdisciplinary projects.
  14. Uphold ethical and professional standards in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Urban Design, Planning, Or Development, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Urban Design Principles, Zoning Regulations, And Land Use Policies.

  • Experience Managing And Leading A Team Of Urban Design Professionals.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Stakeholders And Community Groups.
