
Engineering Technician
The employee performs a variety of technical and administrative duties to assist professional engineering staff with the daily operations of the department. Provides assistance to contractors, architects, engineers, developers, property owners, and the general public at the public counter and over the telephone. Receives and processes plans and specifications and applications for encroachment permits for work performed within the public right-of-way; reviews documents for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with applicable regulations. Calculates encroachment permit and engineering plan check fees in accordance with established fee schedules; issues permits. Assists with engineering programs and activities such as capital improvement program, traffic engineering and land development; monitors inventories, processes invoices, and maintains data.
1 year of administrative support and customer service experience in the civil engineering or construction industries.
