  1. Review and approve fire protection plans for buildings and facilities within the city, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  2. Utilize expertise and knowledge in fire protection systems to identify potential hazards and make recommendations for improvement.
  3. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure fire protection plans are accurate and effective.
  4. Conduct thorough inspections of buildings and facilities to ensure compliance with approved fire protection plans.
  5. Communicate with property owners, contractors, and other parties to address any concerns or issues related to fire protection plans.
  6. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all fire protection plans and inspections.
  7. Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and regulations related to fire protection to ensure the highest level of safety for the community.
  8. Assist in developing and implementing fire protection policies and procedures for the City of Tucson.
  9. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to fire protection.
  10. Act as a resource and provide guidance to other city departments and the public on fire protection matters.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Fire Protection Codes: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of The Current Fire Protection Codes And Standards, Including The International Fire Code (Ifc) And National Fire Protection Association (Nfpa) Codes.

  • Experience In Plan Review: A Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Reviewing Fire Protection Plans, Drawings, And Specifications Is Required For This Position. The Candidate Should Be Able To Identify Potential Fire Hazards And Ensure Compliance With Applicable Codes And Regulations.

  • Fire Protection System Design: The Candidate Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Fire Protection System Design, Including Fire Sprinkler Systems, Fire Alarms, And Special Hazard Systems. Experience In Designing Fire Protection Systems Is Preferred.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: This Role Requires Frequent Communication With Developers, Architects, Engineers, And Other Stakeholders. The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Others.

  • Fire Protection Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Hold A Fire Protection Plans Examiner Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The International Code Council (Icc) Or Nfpa. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Expertise In The Field Of Fire Protection Plan Review.
