Job Description

Covance-Labcorp is seeking a dynamic and experienced Phlebotomy Supervisor to join our team. As a global leader in healthcare, we are dedicated to providing high-quality services and improving patient outcomes. In this role, you will oversee and lead our team of phlebotomists, ensuring the collection of accurate and timely blood samples for diagnostic testing. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care, strong leadership skills, and a minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience.   • Supervise and manage a team of phlebotomists, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Ensure that all phlebotomy procedures are performed accurately and in a timely manner, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies, ordering and restocking as needed.
  • Develop and implement training programs for new and existing phlebotomy staff to ensure high-quality services and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to team members to promote professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry developments, new techniques, and best practices related to phlebotomy and incorporate them into training and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of phlebotomy procedures and patient information.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and company policies related to phlebotomy services.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient care and safety by following all infection control protocols and ensuring a comfortable and respectful environment for patients during the phlebotomy process.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field: A Phlebotomy Supervisor At Covance-Labcorp Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Or A Related Discipline. This Educational Background Demonstrates A Solid Foundation In The Scientific Principles And Techniques Required For The Role.

  • Certification As A Phlebotomist: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomist From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has A Thorough Understanding Of Phlebotomy Techniques And Safety Protocols.

  • Previous Supervisory Experience: Covance-Labcorp Requires Candidates For The Phlebotomy Supervisor Position To Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In A Supervisory Role. This Experience Should Include Managing A Team Of Phlebotomists, Overseeing Their Performance, And Providing Training And Feedback As Needed.

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Regulations And Compliance: The Phlebotomy Supervisor Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Regulations And Compliance Standards, Including Clia, Osha, And Hipaa. This Knowledge Is Crucial For Maintaining A Safe And Compliant Work Environment And Ensuring The Accuracy And Integrity Of Test Results.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Supervisor, The Candidate Should Possess Strong Communication And Leadership Skills To Effectively Manage And Motivate Their Team. This Includes The Ability To Provide Clear Instructions, Give Constructive Feedback, And Resolve Conflicts In A Professional And Efficient Manner.
