- Operate trains in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to company and federal regulations.
- Communicate and coordinate with train crew members and dispatchers to ensure timely and safe movement of freight.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of train equipment and report any defects or issues.
- Monitor and control train speed, direction, and braking to maintain safe and efficient operation.
- Complete required paperwork and recordkeeping accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and protocols.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of freight as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical issues that may arise during a trip.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace on the train.
- Collaborate with other departments and personnel to improve processes and optimize efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and best practices.
- Serve as a role model for safe and responsible work practices.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Qualification Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For A Freight Conductor Job At Csx. This Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And Competency In Reading, Writing, And Math Skills That Are Necessary For The Job.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (Cdl): Csx Requires All Freight Conductors To Have A Valid Cdl. This License Is Necessary For Operating Large Commercial Vehicles And Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Driving Skills And Knowledge Of Regulations To Safely Transport Freight.
