- Efficiently and safely move materials throughout the facility using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by properly labeling, counting, and tracking materials.
- Organize and store materials in designated areas to ensure easy retrieval and accessibility.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks, verifying incoming and outgoing materials against purchase orders or other documents.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of materials to support production schedules.
- Perform quality checks on incoming materials to ensure they meet company standards.
- Identify and report any issues or discrepancies with materials to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping and removing debris.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and streamline material handling procedures.
- Assist in training and mentoring new Material Handlers as needed.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including attendance and punctuality standards.
- Act as a positive representative of the company while interacting with team members and external partners.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service when responding to inquiries or requests.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience With Inventory Management: A Successful Material Handler At Cummins Should Have Experience In Managing Inventory And Ensuring Accurate Record-Keeping. This Includes Performing Cycle Counts, Conducting Physical Inventories, And Tracking Inventory Levels.
Knowledge Of Material Handling Equipment: Cummins Utilizes Various Types Of Equipment Such As Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, And Conveyor Systems. A Material Handler Should Have A Strong Understanding Of How To Operate And Maintain This Equipment Safely And Efficiently.
Organizational And Time-Management Skills: Material Handlers Are Responsible For Tracking And Moving A Large Volume Of Materials Daily. The Ability To Prioritize Tasks, Manage Time Effectively, And Maintain A Well-Organized Workspace Is Crucial For Success In This Role.
Attention To Detail: Cummins Places A High Emphasis On Quality And Accuracy In All Aspects Of Its Operations. A Material Handler Should Have A Keen Eye For Detail To Ensure That The Correct Materials Are Being Moved, Stored, And Shipped At All Times.
