Medical Coder

At Deaconess Health System, we are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Medical Coder to join our team. The Medical Coder will be responsible for reviewing medical records and assigning accurate codes for diagnosis, procedures, and services. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent communication skills.To be successful in this role, you must have a comprehensive knowledge of medical coding standards and coding software. You must also have a minimum of two years of experience in medical coding. A Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is preferred. Responsibilities:

1. Review medical records to ensure accuracy of coding for diagnosis, procedures, and services.
2. Utilize coding software and maintain coding accuracy.
3. Ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations.
4. Maintain knowledge of medical coding standards and regulations.
5. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of coding software.
6. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate coding of services.
7. Prepare and submit accurate and timely coding reports.
8. Respond to coding inquiries from healthcare providers and insurance companies.
9. Respond to coding-related audits and requests for additional information.
10. Monitor coding trends and recommend coding changes.
11. Resolve coding disputes in a timely manner.
12. Train and mentor new coders.
13. Participate in coding conferences and seminars.
14. Provide feedback on coding policies and procedures.
15. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
