
Patient Intake Specialist I

In this role, you will play a key role in ensuring a smooth and efficient intake process for our patients, while also providing support to our clinical staff. - Greet and welcome patients and their families upon arrival, providing a warm and friendly atmosphere.
- Collect and verify patient information, including personal and insurance information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Schedule and confirm appointments for patients, coordinating with other departments as necessary.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from patients and their families, providing excellent customer service.
- Assist patients with completing necessary forms and paperwork, explaining processes and answering any questions they may have.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely and accurate documentation and communication of patient information.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor and track patient wait times, notifying appropriate staff members of any delays or issues.
- Coordinate with insurance companies to obtain authorizations and verify coverage for services.
- Process patient payments and provide information on financial assistance programs, as needed.
- Keep track of office supplies and order new supplies as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure a professional and welcoming atmosphere for patients.
- Uphold the mission and values of Deaconess Health System, promoting a positive and caring culture.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For This Position Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Basic Knowledge And Skills Necessary For The Job.
Previous Healthcare Experience: Candidates With Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Medical Office Or Hospital, Are Preferred For This Position. This Experience Helps Them Understand The Medical Terminology And Procedures Involved In Patient Intake.
Excellent Communication Skills: A Patient Intake Specialist I Should Have Strong Communication Skills To Interact With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Be Able To Communicate Clearly And Effectively In Person, Over The Phone, And Through Written Communication.
Knowledge Of Medical Insurance And Billing: Candidates Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Medical Insurance Plans And Billing Procedures. This Includes Knowledge Of Insurance Verification, Pre-Authorization, And Coding.
Attention To Detail: As A Patient Intake Specialist I, Attention To Detail Is Crucial To Ensure Accuracy In Patient Information, Insurance Details, And Medical Records. This Also Includes The Ability To Identify And Correct Any Errors Or Discrepancies.
