- Greet and welcome patients to Deaconess Health System in a warm and friendly manner.
- Obtain and verify patient information, including personal and insurance details.
- Accurately enter patient data into electronic medical records system.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate with other departments as needed.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from patients and healthcare providers.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain intake procedures and answer any questions.
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate insurance coverage and payment information.
- Collect and process payments from patients for services rendered.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor and maintain the patient waiting area to ensure a clean and comfortable environment.
- Handle and resolve any patient concerns or complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare laws and regulations to ensure compliance in patient intake processes.
- Assist with training and onboarding of new Patient Intake Specialists.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless patient experience.
- Participate in departmental meetings and provide suggestions for process improvement.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Intake Specialist I At Deaconess Health System Is Required To Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Is Capable Of Understanding And Carrying Out Job Responsibilities.
Experience In Healthcare Setting: Candidates With Prior Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As Hospitals Or Clinics, Will Be Preferred For This Role. This Experience Will Give Them A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Procedures, And Patient Care.
Excellent Communication Skills: As A Patient Intake Specialist I, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Interacting With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Insurance Companies On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Essential For This Position.
Knowledge Of Medical Insurance And Billing: A Good Understanding Of Medical Insurance And Billing Processes Is Important For A Patient Intake Specialist I. This Includes Knowledge Of Different Insurance Plans, Deductibles, Copays, And How To Verify Insurance Coverage.
