Job Description

The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining PCs and peripherals, for troubleshooting and solving hardware problems, and for monitoring a local area network system. Maintain the PCS and peripheral systems. Respond promptly to problems or questions regarding network and systems hardware. Perform server startups, shutdown, backups and restores. Provide basic user support for the network. Install, repair and upgrade computer hardware. Install and configure software maintenance and upgrades. Perform system and software maintenance and upgrades. Assist college staff in the proper use of computer equipment. Implement security procedures to protect hardware and software. Maintain system logs and inventory records. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student and staff records. Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities.

  • Attend and participate in professional training seminars or workshops.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of desktop operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on microcomputers and peripherals including knowledge of appropriate software.
