The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking an experienced Emergency Management Specialist (Operations Section Chief Type I OSC1) to join our team and help us prepare for and respond to disasters.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans for emergency management operations, considering potential risks and vulnerabilities.
  2. Lead and coordinate disaster response efforts, including managing resources, communication, and logistics.
  3. Analyze and evaluate emergency situations to determine the appropriate response and resources needed.
  4. Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure effective coordination of emergency response efforts.
  5. Assess and monitor the effectiveness of emergency response plans and make recommendations for improvements.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders and emergency response organizations.
  7. Stay current on emerging trends and best practices in emergency management to continuously improve response strategies.
  8. Develop and deliver training programs to educate and prepare staff and community members for emergency situations.
  9. Create and maintain documentation, reports, and data related to emergency management operations.
  10. Coordinate and lead exercises and drills to test emergency response plans and identify areas for improvement.
  11. Respond to and manage high-pressure situations and make critical decisions under stress.
  12. Manage a team of emergency management professionals and provide guidance, support, and mentorship.
  13. Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events related to emergency management.
  14. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to emergency management.
  15. Act as a liaison between FEMA and other government agencies, community organizations, and the public during emergency situations.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Emergency Management, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Emergency Management, Disaster Response, Or Incident Management.

  • Completion Of Fema's Incident Command System (Ics) Courses, Including Ics-100, Ics-200, And Ics-300.

  • Strong Leadership Skills And Experience Managing A Team In High-Stress And Rapidly Changing Situations.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Emergency Management Laws, Regulations, And Procedures.
