
Historic Preservation Specialist

- Conduct assessments of historic properties and resources in disaster-affected areas to determine their condition and potential risks.
- Develop and implement strategies for protecting and preserving historic properties during disaster response and recovery efforts.
- Collaborate with other agencies, organizations, and stakeholders to ensure proper and sensitive treatment of historic properties.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to FEMA staff and other disaster response and recovery teams on historic preservation issues.
- Review and evaluate proposed plans and projects to ensure compliance with federal historic preservation laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and national historic preservation offices to facilitate collaboration and coordination.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to historic properties and their preservation for FEMA leadership and stakeholders.
- Conduct training and education programs for FEMA staff and partners on historic preservation principles and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date on national and international trends in historic preservation to inform decision-making and recommendations.
- Serve as a liaison between FEMA and the public, providing information and resources on historic preservation efforts and opportunities for involvement.
A Bachelor's Degree In Historic Preservation, Architecture, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Historic Preservation, Preferably In A Government Or Disaster Response Setting.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Federal And State Historic Preservation Laws And Regulations.
Strong Project Management Skills, With The Ability To Oversee And Coordinate Multiple Historic Preservation Projects Simultaneously.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Variety Of Stakeholders, Including Government Agencies, Historic Preservation Organizations, And Local Communities.
