- Oversee and coordinate the delivery of high-quality patient care in the Labor & Delivery unit.
- Lead and manage a team of nursing professionals, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
- Ensure that all nursing staff are following best practices and adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Monitor patient outcomes and provide feedback to staff to ensure quality improvement.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to create and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support as needed.
- Handle any issues or conflicts that may arise among staff and work to resolve them in a timely and professional manner.
- Act as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support in complex patient situations.
- Ensure that all patient documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Participate in hospital committees and initiatives related to improving patient outcomes and promoting excellence in nursing practice.
- Stay current with industry developments and advancements in women's health and labor and delivery.
- Serve as a role model for professionalism, compassion, and dedication to patient care.

- Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures to enhance patient care and efficiency.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: A Charge Nurse In Labor & Delivery At Houston Methodist Should Have A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or A Related Field To Demonstrate A Strong Foundation In Clinical Knowledge And Skills.
Current Rn License In The State Of Texas: As A Charge Nurse, It Is Essential To Have A Current And Active Rn License In The State Of Texas To Comply With State Regulations And Ensure Safe And Effective Patient Care.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Labor & Delivery: Houston Methodist Requires A Charge Nurse To Have At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In Labor & Delivery To Demonstrate A Strong Understanding Of The Unit's Specific Needs And Challenges.
Leadership And Management Skills: The Charge Nurse Role Requires Strong Leadership And Management Skills To Effectively Oversee And Coordinate The Unit's Operations, Including Managing Staff, Delegating Tasks, And Making Critical Decisions.
Bls And Acls Certification: Due To The High-Risk Nature Of The Labor & Delivery Unit, A Charge Nurse Should Have Current Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications To Handle Emergency Situations And Ensure Patient Safety.
