Job Description

Houston Methodist is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Coding Charges & Denials Specialist with the ability to analyze and interpret billing information to join our team! Our ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of medical coding and reimbursement standards as well as experience working with health insurance companies. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently. If you have a passion for coding and are looking to join a world-class organization, we would love to hear from you!Required Qualifications:• High School Diploma or GED• CPC or CCS-P certification• At least two years of experience working with medical coding• Ability to efficiently use computer applications, including Microsoft Office• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision• Experience working with health insurance companies

Responsibilities of a Coding Charges & Denials Specialist:

  1. Analyze and interpret billing information to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding and reimbursement standards.
  2. Maintain current knowledge of applicable medical coding regulations and updates.
  3. Monitor and review coding and reimbursement standards to ensure compliance.
  4. Work with health insurance companies to resolve coding and reimbursement issues.
  5. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Utilize computer applications, including Microsoft Office, to efficiently complete tasks.
  7. Review and reconcile coding reports, billing documents, and other records.
  8. Prepare and submit coding claims and appeals as necessary.
  9. Monitor coding and reimbursement trends and recommend changes for improvement.
  10. Assist with any additional billing and coding tasks as needed.
