The ideal candidate possesses a passion for healthcare and a knack for problem solving.The Inpatient Coder is responsible for assigning accurate and complete diagnosis and procedure codes to inpatient records. The Coder will ensure that all coding meets established standards and regulations set forth by regulatory and accrediting organizations. To be successful in this role, the Coder must have a solid understanding of coding principles and regulations, as well as the ability to interpret medical records.Required Qualifications:• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or another AHIMA or AAPC-approved certification• Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 codes• Strong interpersonal and communication skills• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Responsibilities:
- Assign accurate and complete diagnosis and procedure codes to inpatient records according to established standards and regulations.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 codes to accurately code patient records.
- Review medical records for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accuracy of coding.
- Monitor and audit patient records for accurate coding and documentation.
- Stay up to date on coding regulations and changes.
- Assist with coding education and training for staff.
- Provide coding guidance and support to healthcare staff.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
