Job Description

At Houston Methodist, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role requires someone with a strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a Medical Laboratory Science-related field and be certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). We are looking for an individual who is committed to delivering patient care excellence and is passionate about the medical laboratory field. Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure accuracy and precision in the performance of laboratory testing, including performing quality control procedures.
  2. Record all laboratory test results into the laboratory information system accurately and in a timely manner.
  3. Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies in a clean and orderly fashion.
  4. Follow safety protocols and guidelines established by the laboratory and Houston Methodist.
  5. Adhere to all quality control standards established by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and Houston Methodist.
  6. Adhere to all professional standards of laboratory medicine and patient care.
  7. Assist in training and educating new staff members.
  8. Communicate effectively with the laboratory team, other healthcare providers, and patients.
  9. Participate in research and development projects as assigned.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
