Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and passionate Professional Development Leader (Nurse Educator) to join the Houston Methodist team. In this position, you will lead and manage staff development initiatives that will advance the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of the nursing staff. Responsibilities include providing direct oversight for the development and implementation of educational programming and initiatives, as well as developing and overseeing the evaluation of staff development outcomes. To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate ongoing professional development programs for nursing staff.
  2. Develop and oversee comprehensive evaluation systems to measure the effectiveness of staff development initiatives.
  3. Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure they are meeting their development goals.
  4. Monitor trends in professional development and make recommendations for improvement.
  5. Develop and manage budgets for staff development activities.
  6. Collaborate with other departments to ensure that staff development initiatives are integrated across the organization.
  7. Serve as a resource to other departments in providing professional development opportunities.
  8. Participate in meetings and conferences as needed to stay current on trends in professional development.
  9. Foster a culture of professional development among the nursing staff.
  10. Manage and support the training of new nursing staff.
