Job Description

Welcome to J.Crew, where we believe in creating timeless, versatile and quality pieces for our customers. We are currently seeking a creative and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join our team and play a key role in designing our sweaters and cold weather accessories. As an Assistant Designer, you will work closely with our Design Director and cross-functional teams to bring our vision to life. If you have a passion for fashion, a strong eye for trends and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us and be a part of our dedicated team in creating the next must-have pieces for our customers.

  1. Collaborate with the Design Director to develop seasonal concepts and themes for sweaters and cold weather accessories.
  2. Conduct market research to identify current trends and incorporate them into designs.
  3. Create sketches and technical drawings for new designs.
  4. Assist in sourcing materials and trims for production.
  5. Work closely with the cross-functional teams, including merchandising and production, to ensure designs are in line with brand aesthetic and production capabilities.
  6. Attend fittings and provide feedback on fit and construction.
  7. Prepare and organize presentation boards for design reviews and meetings.
  8. Maintain accurate records of design development, including sketches, fabric swatches, and sample notes.
  9. Assist in creating and updating tech packs for production.
  10. Collaborate with the product development team to ensure timely delivery of samples and production deadlines.
  11. Attend trade shows and trend presentations to stay current with industry trends.
  12. Support the Design Director in any additional tasks or projects as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Proficiency In Adobe Creative Suite And Other Design Software

  • Bachelor's Degree In Fashion Design Or Related Field

  • Prior Experience In Designing Sweaters And Cold Weather Accessories

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills To Work With Cross-Functional Teams And Vendors.
