- Provide exceptional patient care: The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients at Johns Hopkins Medicine. This includes following treatment plans, monitoring progress, and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Assist with patient evaluations: The OTA will assist the Occupational Therapist (OT) in conducting initial evaluations and ongoing assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities. This may involve administering standardized tests, gathering patient history, and observing functional abilities.
- Implement treatment plans: Working under the supervision of the OT, the OTA will help implement individualized treatment plans for patients, which may include therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living, adaptive equipment, and other interventions to improve physical and mental function.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: The OTA will work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and speech therapists, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records: The OTA is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and other documentation as required by Johns Hopkins Medicine and regulatory agencies.
- Provide patient and family education: The OTA will educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, and home exercise programs to promote optimal recovery and independence.
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards: The OTA will uphold the professional and ethical standards set forth by Johns Hopkins Medicine, the American Occupational Therapy Association, and state licensing boards.
- Attend team meetings and continuing education: The OTA will participate in team meetings and educational opportunities to stay current on best practices, new research, and advancements in the field of occupational therapy.
- Communicate effectively: The OTA will maintain open and effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues, including reporting any changes or concerns related to patient care to the OT.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment: The OTA will follow infection control and safety
Associate's Degree In Occupational Therapy Assistant Program From An Accredited Institution.
Certification As A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (Cota) By The National Board For Certification In Occupational Therapy (Nbcot).
Current State Licensure As An Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Rehabilitation Center.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively As Part Of An Interdisciplinary Team.
