- Review and audit medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Identify and report any discrepancies or errors in medical documentation.
- Communicate with healthcare providers and staff to obtain missing or incomplete information.
- Analyze medical records and identify opportunities for improvement in documentation practices.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to medical documentation.
- Conduct regular training and education sessions for healthcare providers and staff on proper documentation procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Coding and Quality Assurance, to ensure consistent and accurate medical documentation.
- Utilize electronic health record systems to manage and track medical record audits.
- Generate reports and provide data analysis on audit findings.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall accuracy and compliance of medical records.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in handling sensitive medical information.
- Serve as a resource for healthcare providers and staff regarding medical documentation best practices.
- Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment within the team and across departments.
- Attend continuing education and training to stay current on industry trends and best practices.
- Assist with any other tasks or projects related to medical documentation and audit processes as needed.
Bachelor's Degree In Healthcare Management, Nursing, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Medical Coding And Documentation Auditing.
Proficient Knowledge Of Federal And State Regulations, Coding Guidelines, And Billing Requirements.
In-Depth Understanding Of Various Medical Coding Systems, Such As Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs.
Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Identify Errors And Discrepancies In Medical Documentation.
