  1. Collect and handle blood samples from patients with precision and care.
  2. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all blood samples collected.
  3. Maintain a safe and sterile environment during the phlebotomy process.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients to ensure they understand the phlebotomy procedure and feel comfortable.
  5. Follow all established protocols and procedures for collecting, handling, and transporting blood samples.
  6. Properly label and document all collected samples for accurate tracking and identification.
  7. Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment, restocking as needed.
  8. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families throughout the phlebotomy process.
  9. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of patient care.
  10. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  11. Attend ongoing training and educational opportunities to stay updated on best practices and advancements in phlebotomy.
  12. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and sharps in accordance with safety protocols.
  13. Keep work area clean and organized at all times.
  14. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  15. Demonstrate a compassionate and caring attitude towards patients and their families.
  16. Respect and adhere to the values and mission of Kaiser Permanente.
  17. Keep accurate records and documentation of all phlebotomy procedures.
  18. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
  19. Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes and patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Phlebotomy Program: Candidates For A Phlebotomist Position At Kaiser Permanente Must Have Successfully Completed An Accredited Phlebotomy Program, Typically Consisting Of Classroom Instruction And Hands-On Clinical Experience.

  • Certification As A Phlebotomist: Kaiser Permanente Requires Candidates To Be Certified As A Phlebotomist Through A Recognized Agency Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa).

  • Experience In A Clinical Setting: Candidates Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Medical Office. This Will Demonstrate Their Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Infection Control Practices, And Patient Care.

  • Knowledge Of Specimen Collection And Handling: Kaiser Permanente Requires Candidates To Have A Thorough Understanding Of Proper Specimen Collection And Handling Techniques To Ensure Accurate Test Results. This Includes Knowledge Of Different Types Of Tubes, Sample Labeling, And Storage Requirements.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As A Phlebotomist, The Candidate Will Be Interacting With Patients On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Kaiser Permanente Looks For Candidates With Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills To Provide A Positive Patient Experience.
