We are currently seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team as Correctional Officers. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of our facility while also providing support and guidance to inmates as they work towards rehabilitation.   1. Maintain the safety and security of the facility by monitoring inmates and enforcing rules and regulations.
  2. Conduct regular searches and inspections of inmates and their living quarters.
  3. Respond to emergencies, such as fights or medical situations, and provide appropriate assistance.
  4. Communicate effectively with inmates, fellow officers, and other staff members.
  5. Provide guidance and support to inmates as they work towards rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
  6. Document and report any incidents or violations of rules and regulations.
  7. Conduct regular counts and headcounts of inmates to ensure accurate documentation.
  8. Conduct searches of incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and visitors to prevent contraband from entering the facility.
  9. Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the facility.
  10. Attend and participate in training and meetings to stay updated on policies and procedures.
  11. Maintain professionalism and uphold the values of integrity and respect for all individuals.
  12. Use de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution skills when dealing with difficult situations.
  13. Collaborate with other departments and agencies, such as law enforcement and mental health professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of inmates.
  14. Continuously evaluate and assess the security measures in place and make recommendations for improvement.
  15. Stay alert and vigilant at all times to prevent and address any potential security threats.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Education Requirement: A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For The Position Of A Correctional Officer At Kansas City.

  • Physical Fitness: Candidates Must Possess Physical Fitness And Agility To Handle The Physical Demands Of The Job, Including Restraining And Controlling Inmates, Standing For Long Periods Of Time, And Responding To Emergency Situations.

  • Background Check And Drug Screening: All Candidates Must Pass A Comprehensive Background Check And Drug Screening To Ensure They Have No Criminal History Or Drug Use That Could Compromise The Safety And Security Of The Facility And Its Inmates.

  • Training And Certification: Candidates Must Complete A Training Program And Obtain Certification As A Correctional Officer Before Being Hired. This May Include Courses In Self-Defense, Firearms Training, And Crisis Intervention.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Correctional Officers Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Inmates, Staff, And The Public. They Must Also Be Able To De-Escalate Tense Situations And Work Well Within A Team Environment. Previous Experience In Law Enforcement, Security, Or A Related Field May Be Preferred.
