- Develop and implement strategies and policies to promote smart growth and sustainable development within the city.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Current Planning Division, including budgeting, staffing, and project management.
- Manage a team of planning professionals, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure successful completion of projects and initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with other city departments and external stakeholders to coordinate planning efforts and address community needs.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making and provide recommendations for land use, zoning, and development proposals.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and codes related to urban planning and development.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and residents to promote transparency and gather input on planning initiatives.
- Represent the city at public meetings, hearings, and other events to present and advocate for planning projects and policies.
- Stay informed of emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in urban planning to continually improve the department's operations and strategies.
- Collaborate with city leadership to develop and implement long-term planning goals and objectives for the city.
- Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate planning efforts and outcomes to various stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and professional development among staff members.
- Ensure that all planning projects and initiatives are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Continuously evaluate and improve planning processes and procedures to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
- Uphold ethical standards and promote transparency and integrity in all planning activities.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role Within A Municipal Planning Department.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Land Use Laws, Zoning Regulations, And Environmental Regulations.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Other Departments, Stakeholders, And The Community.
Experience Managing A Team Of Planners And Coordinating Multiple Projects Simultaneously.
