- Provide compassionate and skilled direct patient care to newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional well-being of newborns, including vital signs, feeding, and developmental milestones.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by healthcare team.
- Assist with medical procedures and interventions, such as IV insertions and intubations.
- Communicate effectively with parents and family members of newborns, providing education and support as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and therapists, to create and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care, including vital signs, treatments, and interventions.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
- Monitor and restock supplies and equipment, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and improve skills and knowledge related to neonatal care.
- Serve as an advocate for newborns and their families, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed and addressed in a timely and compassionate manner.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.

Certification: A Clinical Nursing Assistant Must Hold A Valid Cna Certification In The State Of Maine In Order To Work In The Nicu At Mainehealth. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Completed The Necessary Training And Is Prepared To Provide Care To Newborns And Infants.
Experience In Nicu: Mainehealth Is Seeking Candidates With Previous Experience Working In A Nicu Setting. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Knowledge And Skills In Caring For Critically Ill Newborns And Their Families.
Knowledge Of Neonatal Care: Candidates Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Neonatal Care And Be Familiar With Common Medical Conditions And Treatments In The Nicu. This Includes Skills Such As Administering Medications, Monitoring Vital Signs, And Assisting With Procedures.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: The Nicu Can Be A High-Stress And Fast-Paced Environment, Requiring Cnas To Think Quickly And Prioritize Tasks Efficiently. Candidates Must Be Able To Handle The Demands Of This Environment And Work Well Under Pressure.
