Welcome to Mainehealth! We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team in the Transactional department. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and paralegals with various administrative and transactional duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal terminology and processes, as well as excellent communication and time-management skills.   1. Provide administrative support to attorneys and paralegals in the Transactional department.
  2. Maintain and organize legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and correspondence.
  3. Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases and transactions.
  4. Assist in drafting and editing legal documents, such as contracts, briefs, and memos.
  5. Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and court appearances for attorneys.
  6. Communicate with clients, court personnel, and other legal professionals in a professional and timely manner.
  7. Manage and maintain calendars and deadlines for multiple attorneys and cases.
  8. Prepare and file legal documents, such as pleadings and motions, with various courts and agencies.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  10. Assist with billing and invoicing for legal services.
  11. Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  12. Collaborate with other departments and team members to ensure efficient workflow.
  13. Provide support for special projects and initiatives as needed.
  14. Proactively identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
  15. Uphold the values and standards of Mainehealth and the legal profession.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Paralegal Studies Or Related Field: A Strong Foundation In Legal Principles And Procedures Is Essential For A Legal Assistant In A Transactional Role. A Bachelor's Degree In Paralegal Studies Or A Related Field Can Provide The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Effectively Assist Attorneys In Transactional Matters.

  • Prior Experience In A Law Firm Or Corporate Legal Department: Previous Experience Working As A Legal Assistant In A Law Firm Or Corporate Legal Department Is Highly Desirable For This Role. It Demonstrates The Ability To Handle Complex Legal Tasks And Work Effectively In A Fast-Paced Environment.

  • Knowledge Of Transactional Law: A Strong Understanding Of Transactional Law, Including Contract Drafting And Review, Due Diligence, And Corporate Governance, Is Crucial For A Legal Assistant In This Role. This Knowledge Will Be Essential In Supporting Attorneys And Ensuring All Legal Documents Are Accurate And In Compliance With Applicable Laws And Regulations.

  • Excellent Organizational And Time-Management Skills: The Legal Assistant Will Be Responsible For Managing Multiple Tasks And Deadlines Simultaneously. Therefore, Strong Organizational And Time-Management Skills Are Vital To Ensure All Tasks Are Completed Accurately And On Time.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Critical For A Legal Assistant In A Transactional Role. They Will Need To Communicate With Attorneys, Clients, And Other Team Members, Both Verbally And In Writing. Clear And Concise Communication Is Essential To Ensure All Parties Involved Understand The Legal Process And Their Responsibilities.
