Certification Or Training In Peer Recovery Support: Candidates Should Have Completed A Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Training Program Or Have A Relevant Certification In Peer Support, Such As The Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (Carc) Or Certified Peer Support Specialist (Cpss).
Personal Experience With Substance Use Disorder And Recovery: Peer Recovery Partners Should Have Personal Experience With Substance Use Disorder And Be In Active Recovery For A Minimum Of Two Years. This Allows For A Deeper Understanding And Connection With The Individuals They Will Be Supporting.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Peer Recovery Partners Will Be Working Closely With Individuals In Recovery, As Well As With A Multidisciplinary Team. Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Rapport And Effectively Supporting Individuals In Their Recovery Journey.
Knowledge Of Community Resources And Support Networks: A Peer Recovery Partner Should Have A Good Understanding Of The Local Community And The Resources Available For Individuals In Recovery. This Includes Knowledge Of Support Groups, Treatment Options, And Other Resources That Can Aid In The Recovery Process.
