
Medical Underwriting Consultant
Evaluates and specializes in handling all medical aspects of underwriting a file. Determines whether to accept, modify, or decline a risk through evaluation of an individual's medical history and physical condition. Understands underwriting policies, guidelines, practices and procedures, and has the ability to influence and champion changes to improve processes while maintaining mortality expectations. Medical resource in underwriting to assist L & D in training new underwriters on APS review. Demonstrates the ability to adapt and customize content and communication style to fit a variety of specific internal target audiences such as: all levels of employees including medical department. Collaborates effectively with stakeholders to gather information necessary for decision making and to select profitable risks.
5+ years experience in Underwriting Individual Life Insurance
Thorough understanding of the interplay of multiple medical conditions effect on one another
Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus
Proficient in utilizing resources including medical web sites to research medical conditions, medications, and testing
Extensive working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical laboratory test results
