- Oversee the financial operations of all research initiatives at Mayo Clinic, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement financial strategies and policies to support the long-term goals and objectives of the research department.
- Provide financial guidance and support to research teams, collaborating with them to ensure the financial feasibility and sustainability of their projects.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and maintain a comprehensive budget for research activities, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external funding agencies, negotiating contracts and agreements to secure necessary funding for research projects.
- Stay informed about current industry trends and best practices in research finance, and proactively make recommendations for process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure their success.
- Serve as a financial advisor to the research department, providing insights and recommendations on financial decisions and strategies.

Extensive Financial Management Experience: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Financial Management, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting. They Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Financial Systems, Budgeting, Forecasting, And Financial Reporting.
Advanced Degree In Finance Or Accounting: A Master's Degree In Finance, Accounting, Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For This Position. The Candidate Should Have A Strong Foundation In Financial Principles And Practices, As Well As Knowledge Of Healthcare-Specific Financial Regulations And Laws.
Strategic Thinking And Decision-Making Skills: As The Head Of The Finance Department, The Cfo Must Have Excellent Strategic Thinking And Decision-Making Abilities. They Should Be Able To Analyze Complex Financial Data And Make Sound Decisions That Align With The Organization's Goals And Objectives.
Leadership And Management Experience: The Cfo Will Be Responsible For Leading And Managing A Team Of Finance Professionals. Therefore, The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Managing And Developing A Team, As Well As A Track Record Of Fostering A Positive And Collaborative Work Environment.
