
Ophthalmic Assistant

- Assist in maintaining a welcoming and professional environment for patients and their families.
- Conduct preliminary eye examinations and gather patient medical histories.
- Perform ophthalmic testing and procedures under the direction of the ophthalmologist.
- Educate patients on proper eye care and provide information on treatment plans.
- Update and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Communicate effectively with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist with patient flow.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and timely patient care.
- Identify and report any abnormalities or changes in patient vision to the ophthalmologist.
- Stay up-to-date on current trends and advancements in ophthalmology.
- Maintain compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide support and assistance to ophthalmologists during surgical procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance knowledge and skills.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Necessary To Qualify For An Ophthalmic Assistant Job At Mayo Clinic.
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (Coa) Or Equivalent Certification: Having A Coa Or Equivalent Certification From A Recognized Institution Demonstrates A Thorough Understanding Of Ophthalmic Procedures And Equipment, And Is Highly Preferred By Mayo Clinic.
Experience In Ophthalmic Procedures: Previous Experience In Performing Ophthalmic Procedures, Such As Taking Patient History, Measuring Visual Acuity, And Assisting With Diagnostic Testing, Is Highly Desirable For An Ophthalmic Assistant Job At Mayo Clinic.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As An Ophthalmic Assistant At Mayo Clinic, You Will Be Required To Communicate With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role.
