  1. Apply and remove casts and splints on orthopedic patients.
  2. Ensure proper fit and alignment of casts and splints for optimal healing.
  3. Monitor patients' condition and adjust casts and splints as needed.
  4. Educate patients and their families on cast care and proper use of assistive devices.
  5. Work closely with physicians and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  7. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
  8. Keep abreast of new developments and techniques in casting and splinting.
  9. Handle and maintain equipment and supplies in a safe and efficient manner.
  10. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients during the casting process.
  11. Collaborate with physical therapists to assist patients with mobility and range of motion exercises.
  12. Participate in departmental meetings and trainings as required.
  13. Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion in all interactions with patients and their families.
  14. Adhere to ethical and legal standards in patient care and confidentiality.
  15. Take initiative in identifying and addressing any issues or concerns related to patient care.
  16. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  17. Act as a resource and mentor for new staff members.
  18. Continuously strive to improve and enhance patient care and outcomes.
  19. Comply with all Mayo Clinic policies and procedures.
  20. Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification As A Orthopedic Cast Technician Through An Accredited Program Or Equivalent Experience.

  • Strong Understanding Of Anatomy And Physiology, Particularly Related To The Musculoskeletal System.

  • Proficient In Applying And Removing Casts, Splints, And Other Orthopedic Devices.

  • Knowledge Of Casting Materials, Equipment, And Techniques, Including Specialized Casts For Complex Fractures.

  • Excellent Communication Skills And Ability To Work Collaboratively With Physicians, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
