Experience With Driving Large Vehicles: A Smc Transporter Must Have Experience Driving Large Vehicles, Such As Vans Or Shuttles, To Safely Transport Patients, Visitors, And Staff Around The Mayo Clinic Campus.
Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As A Transporter, The Individual Will Interact With Patients And Visitors On A Daily Basis, Making It Essential To Have Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills.
Basic Medical Knowledge: While Not Required, Having A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures Can Be Beneficial In This Role. It Can Help The Transporter Better Assist Patients And Communicate With Medical Staff.
Physical Fitness And Stamina: The Job Of A Smc Transporter Can Be Physically Demanding, Requiring The Individual To Stand, Walk, And Lift For Extended Periods. Therefore, Applicants Should Be Physically Fit And Have The Stamina To Handle The Demands Of The Job.
Availability For Flexible Scheduling: The Mayo Clinic Operates 24/7, And Transporters May Be Required To Work Evenings, Weekends, And Holidays. Therefore, Applicants Should Have A Flexible Schedule And Be Willing To Work Varying Shifts.
