- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families by welcoming them to MedStar Health and assisting with their transportation needs.
- Coordinate and facilitate the movement of patients throughout our facilities, ensuring timely and efficient transport.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient transport activities.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare staff to ensure that patient transport needs are met in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized central transport area, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are readily available.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when transporting patients, including proper use of equipment and infection control measures.
- Assist with the training and orientation of new central transport staff members.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient and effective patient flow through the facility.
- Identify and report any issues or concerns related to patient transport to the appropriate supervisor.
- Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures related to patient transport to enhance the overall patient experience.
- Adhere to all MedStar Health policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
- Participate in departmental meetings and trainings as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development by staying informed about industry advancements and trends.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Education And Can Handle The Responsibilities Of The Job.
Valid Driver's License: A Valid Driver's License Is Necessary For This Job As The Central Transport Assistant Will Be Required To Operate Vehicles To Transport Patients And Medical Equipment.
Basic Medical Knowledge: Candidates Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Procedures, And Equipment. This Knowledge Will Help Them In Effectively Communicating With Medical Staff And Handling Equipment During Patient Transport.
Strong Communication Skills: The Central Transport Assistant Will Be Required To Communicate With A Variety Of People Including Patients, Medical Staff, And Department Heads. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are A Must For This Role.
Physical Fitness: This Job Requires The Central Transport Assistant To Be Physically Fit As They Will Be Required To Lift And Move Patients And Equipment. A Candidate With Good Physical Strength And Stamina Will Be Able To Handle The Physical Demands Of The Job Effectively.
