Lab Manager

At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), our mission is to provide the best possible care for our patients and their families. We are looking for a motivated and organized Lab Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our team, helping to ensure that the lab functions efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or other related field, as well as at least three years of relevant laboratory experience. They must also have experience with laboratory management, including budgeting, scheduling, and personnel management. They must be able to effectively plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. A high level of organizational and problem-solving skills is also required. Additionally, a background in the cancer research field is preferred, but not required. Responsibilities:

1. Manage and oversee all laboratory operations, including personnel management, budgeting, and scheduling.
2. Develop and implement laboratory protocols and procedures to ensure the lab is functioning efficiently and effectively.
3. Prepare and manage laboratory budgets and ensure all laboratory costs are managed effectively.
4. Maintain records of all laboratory activities and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
5. Work with other personnel to ensure that research and clinical goals are being met.
6. Train and supervise laboratory personnel, and provide guidance and direction as needed.
7. Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all research and clinical activities are being conducted safely and efficiently.
8. Develop and implement plans for quality control and improvement of laboratory services.
9. Monitor laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety of personnel.
10. Assist in the development of research grants and other research activities.
