  1. Manage and maintain patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
  2. Stay up-to-date on all legal and regulatory requirements related to health information management and ensure compliance.
  3. Utilize electronic health record systems to enter and retrieve patient information in a timely and accurate manner.
  4. Work closely with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure all patient records are complete and up-to-date.
  5. Organize and file patient records in a systematic and efficient manner.
  6. Respond to requests for medical records in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Monitor and track release of information requests and ensure proper authorization is obtained.
  8. Review and analyze patient records for completeness and accuracy.
  9. Identify and report any potential issues or errors in patient records.
  10. Assist with audits and quality assurance measures related to health information management.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers regarding medical records and information.
  12. Maintain a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding systems.
  13. Collaborate with other team members to continuously improve processes and procedures related to health information management.
  14. Attend training and educational opportunities to stay current on industry changes and advancements.

Job Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree In Health Information Technology: A Minimum Of An Associate's Degree In Health Information Technology Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Practices Of Managing Health Information.

  • Certification In Health Information Management: Candidates With A Certification In Health Information Management, Such As The Registered Health Information Technician (Rhit) Certification, Are Highly Preferred. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Expertise In The Field.

  • Familiarity With Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems: Mercy Is A Leading Healthcare Organization That Utilizes Electronic Health Record Systems. Therefore, Candidates For This Position Should Have Experience And Proficiency In Working With Ehr Systems.

  • Attention To Detail: Health Information Associates Are Responsible For Accurately Managing And Maintaining Patient Health Records. Therefore, Attention To Detail Is A Crucial Qualification For This Job. Candidates Should Have A Strong Eye For Detail And Be Able To Maintain Accuracy In Their Work.
