
Health Information Technician
We are looking for a qualified and motivated Health Information Technician to join our team at Mercy. As a Health Information Technician, you will be responsible for managing patient health information, including medical records and other documents. You will need to have excellent organizational and communication skills to be successful in this role. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare setting, and a certification in health information technology. You should also have a strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and standards. Responsibilities of a Health Information Technician:
• Maintain and organize patient health information, including medical records and other documents • Ensure that all patient information is kept up to date and adhere to HIPAA regulations and standards. • Manage and improve the accuracy of medical records in accordance with established policies and procedures. • Communicate with healthcare staff to ensure that patient information is accurate and complete. • Assist with the creation of reports and documents related to patient care. • Monitor the security and integrity of health information systems. • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA. • Utilize computer systems to enter, access, and retrieve patient health information. • Respond to requests for health information in a timely and accurate manner. • Assist with the creation of new patient charts and records. • Develop and implement procedures for managing patient health information. • Research and resolve discrepancies in patient health information. • Generate reports and statistics related to patient care.
