Job Description

At Mercy, we are looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist who is passionate about providing quality care to our patients. This is a unique opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals in a mission-driven hospital setting.The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. They will provide accurate test results to physicians and other healthcare providers in an efficient and timely manner.The ideal candidate for this position will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field. They will have at least three years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting and be certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). They should have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Additionally, they should be knowledgeable of the regulatory requirements for a clinical laboratory setting and be able to adhere to them.If you have a passion for excellence and a commitment to providing the highest quality patient care, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities of a Medical Laboratory Technologist:

  1. Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  2. Provide accurate test results to physicians and other healthcare providers in an efficient and timely manner.
  3. Maintain a current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  4. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
  5. Understand and adhere to regulatory requirements for a clinical laboratory setting.
  6. Monitor and ensure the accuracy of laboratory test results.
  7. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure it is in proper working order.
  8. Remain up to date on new laboratory techniques and methods.
  9. Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  10. Assess laboratory quality control procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
