
Monitor Technician

As a Monitor Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing quality care to our patients by monitoring their cardiac rhythms and promptly alerting medical staff of any abnormalities. - Monitor and interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs) to accurately assess and report any changes or abnormalities in the cardiac rhythm of patients.
- Maintain constant surveillance of cardiac monitors and promptly alert medical staff of any concerning changes in patients' cardiac rhythms.
- Document and record all EKG readings accurately and timely in patient's medical records.
- Collaborate with medical staff and other healthcare team members to ensure prompt and appropriate response to any cardiac emergencies.
- Perform routine equipment checks and troubleshoot any technical issues with cardiac monitors.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures regarding patient care, confidentiality, and safety.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support regarding cardiac monitoring procedures and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure efficient and accurate readings of EKGs.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on advancements and changes in cardiac monitoring techniques and equipment.
- Provide compassionate and exceptional patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards patients' physical and emotional needs.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by working effectively with other healthcare team members and maintaining open communication.
- Comply with all regulatory and legal requirements related to patient care and documentation.
- Follow infection control protocols at all times to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Display a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Continuously strive to improve patient care and contribute to the overall success of the healthcare team.
Experience With Cardiac Monitoring Equipment: A Qualified Monitor Technician At Mercy Should Have Experience Operating And Troubleshooting Various Types Of Cardiac Monitoring Equipment, Such As Ekg Machines, Telemetry Units, And Holter Monitors.
Knowledge Of Cardiac Rhythms And Arrhythmias: As A Monitor Technician, It Is Essential To Have A Strong Understanding Of Cardiac Rhythms And Arrhythmias, As Well As The Ability To Accurately Interpret And Recognize Abnormal Patterns.
Attention To Detail: This Role Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail, As Monitor Technicians Are Responsible For Closely Monitoring Patients' Heart Rhythms And Detecting Any Changes Or Abnormalities.
Multitasking Skills: Mercy's Monitor Technicians Must Be Able To Effectively Multitask, As They Are Often Responsible For Monitoring Multiple Patients Simultaneously And Responding Quickly To Any Alarms Or Alerts.
Communication And Teamwork: Strong Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Well In A Team Are Critical For A Monitor Technician At Mercy. They Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Other Healthcare Professionals And Work Collaboratively To Ensure The Best Care For Patients.
