Job Description

  1. Monitor patient data: Use specialized equipment to observe and record patients' vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels.
  2. Analyze and interpret data: Review patient data and alert healthcare team of any abnormalities or changes in vital signs.
  3. Communicate effectively: Clearly and accurately communicate patient information to healthcare team, including nurses and physicians, to ensure timely and appropriate care.
  4. Maintain accuracy and attention to detail: Ensure all patient data is accurately recorded and reported, paying close attention to detail to avoid errors.
  5. Work under pressure: Remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle emergency situations and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare team: Work closely with nurses and physicians to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients.
  7. Stay up-to-date on medical terminology: Continuously expand knowledge of medical terminology and procedures to accurately interpret and communicate patient data.
  8. Ensure patient confidentiality: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  9. Troubleshoot equipment: Address any technical issues with monitoring equipment and ensure proper functioning for accurate patient data collection.
  10. Provide exceptional patient care: Play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of care for patients by monitoring and reporting vital signs to the healthcare team.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Monitor Technician At Mercy Should Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education To Ensure A Basic Level Of Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures.

  • Completion Of A Monitor Technician Training Program: Mercy May Require Candidates To Have Completed A Training Program In Monitor Technician Skills, Such As A Certification Program Or A Vocational Course.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Mercy May Require Candidates To Have A Current Bls Certification, Which Demonstrates Knowledge And Skills In Basic Life Support Techniques.

  • Previous Experience In Healthcare Setting: While Not Always Required, Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Can Be Advantageous For A Monitor Technician Role At Mercy.

  • Strong Communication And Multitasking Skills: A Monitor Technician At Mercy Should Possess Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Healthcare Staff, And Physicians. They Should Also Have Strong Multitasking Abilities To Monitor Multiple Patients And Equipment Simultaneously.
