Job Description

Are you passionate about helping horses and their human companions achieve optimal health and well-being? Do you have experience and training in physical therapy? Mercy Hospital is seeking a full-time Physical Therapy Assistant to join our Horsebarn team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of equine anatomy and biomechanics, as well as a strong background in human physical therapy techniques. As part of our compassionate and dedicated team, you will play a crucial role in providing holistic and personalized care to our equine patients and their riders.

  1. Provide physical therapy services to equine patients at Mercy Hospital's Horsebarn facility.
  2. Utilize expertise in equine anatomy and biomechanics to develop effective treatment plans for each patient.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments of equine patients and communicate findings to supervising physical therapist.
  4. Collaborate with veterinarians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
  5. Utilize a variety of human physical therapy techniques, adapted for use on horses, to improve mobility, strength, and overall health.
  6. Educate horse owners and riders on proper techniques and exercises to support their horse's recovery and overall well-being.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  8. Monitor and report on patient progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  9. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
  10. Continuously strive to improve skills and stay current with advancements in equine physical therapy.

Job Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree In Physical Therapy Assistant Program From An Accredited Institution.

  • State Licensure As A Physical Therapy Assistant.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In Equine Therapy.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Equine Anatomy And Biomechanics.

  • Ability To Work Full-Time, Including Weekends And Evenings, As Needed To Accommodate Horsebarn Schedule.
