- Monitor and assess patient's condition during labor and delivery.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist with various procedures, such as epidurals and cesarean sections.
- Educate patients and families on labor and delivery processes, postpartum care, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn) Or Higher: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Typically Required For A Registered Nurse Position At Mercy. This Degree Provides The Necessary Education And Clinical Training To Prepare Nurses For The Specialized Role Of A Labor & Delivery Nurse.
Current Rn License In The State Of Employment: All Registered Nurses At Mercy Must Have A Current And Valid Rn License In The State Where They Are Employed. This Ensures That The Nurse Is Legally Allowed To Practice And Provide Care Within Their Designated State.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Labor & Delivery: Mercy Seeks Experienced Nurses For Their Labor & Delivery Positions, With A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In This Specific Specialty. This Ensures That The Nurse Has A Strong Understanding Of The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Caring For Laboring Mothers And Newborns.
Bls And Nrp Certification: Basic Life Support (Bls) And Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certifications Are Required For All Labor & Delivery Nurses At Mercy. These Certifications Provide Nurses With The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Respond To Emergency Situations That May Arise During Labor And Delivery.
Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: Labor & Delivery Nurses Must Possess Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills In Order To Effectively Care For Patients And Collaborate With The Interdisciplinary Team. Mercy Looks For Nurses Who Can Communicate Effectively With Patients, Families, And Colleagues, And Can Think Quickly And Make Sound Decisions In High-Pressure Situations.
